The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Mahasarakham University, co-hosted with the Japan Foundation a special seminar “Boys Love-A Cross-Cultural Phenomenon in Asia: New Perspectives from Thailand and Japan” on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mae Nam Khong Meeting Room, which discussed the historical traces of boys love literature and its influence on readers in Thailand, as well as exploring the role of literature in the development of Thai film media, which has created a unique identity and created a trend that can influence Japan.
In addition, there was an exchange of opinions from Japanese academics on the reception of Thai boys’ love literature in Japan under the context of historical changes. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natthanai Prasannam, Deputy Dean for Research and Creativity, Faculty of Humanities, Director of the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Humanities and Social Sciences, Kasetsart University, and Prof. Dr. Kazumi Nagaike, Lecturer at the Institute of Global Education and Intercultural Advancement Research, Oita University, gave a lecture.
