The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Mahasarakham University (MSU) proudly congratulates Khun Jirawat Mahasar, an alumnus of the English Language Program, Department of Western Languages and Linguistics, on being honored with the prestigious “Phra That Narai Dune Gold Award” in the Outstanding Alumnus category for 2022.
Khun Jirawat, also known as Tum, is the founder of Chaksarn, a globally recognized Thai brand rooted in local craftsmanship. Born and raised in a small village in Mahasarakham, he pursued his Bachelor’s degree in English from MSU between 2005 and 2008. His deep connection to traditional Thai arts and crafts, cultivated from a young age, inspired him to preserve the intricate beauty of local handwoven works while integrating them with modern design.
Leveraging his expertise in English and his background in the humanities and social sciences, Khun Jirawat sought design education from institutions worldwide, ultimately creating a brand that not only generates income for local communities but also promotes Thai culture on the global stage.
