On December 9, 2024, Mahasarakham University (MSU) held the “Pha Laeng” gathering to commemorate its 56th anniversary under the theme “MSU: Building a Sustainable Society.” Associate Professor Dr. Prayook Srivilai, Acting President of Mahasarakham University, presided over the event, delivering a welcoming speech and officially opening the ceremony. He also congratulated distinguished alumni who received the “Outstanding Alumni Awards” during the event. The celebration took place at the plaza in front of the Boromrajakumari Building, MSU.
The event featured a variety of activities, including a video presentation introducing MSU, a ballet performance by the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and Cultural Science, and the presentation of Outstanding Alumni Awards in three categories: Career Achievement, Contributions to Society and the University, and Distinguished Accomplishments. A total of 25 awards were given, with representatives delivering heartfelt speeches of gratitude. Acting President Dr. Prayook also presented a congratulatory bouquet to Ms. Sumalee Suwankorn, President of the MSU Alumni Association. The evening concluded with a performance by Isan Silpa, a traditional music and dance ensemble from the College of Music, MSU.
Notably, two alumni from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences were among the awardees this year:
- Ms. Mullika Sungsanit, a Bachelor’s degree graduate in English, received the “Career Achievement” award. She currently serves as Vice President for Engagement, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at Suranaree University of Technology.
- Ms. Warapan Chaichanasiri, a Master’s degree graduate in Thai Studies, received the “Distinguished Accomplishments” award. She currently holds the position of Deputy Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion.
