Prof. Dr. Neil Anderson


Professor and Chair of the Department of English Language Teaching and Learning at BYU-Hawaii.

            Neil J. Anderson, Professor Emeritus at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, has an extensive background in English language teaching and learning. He earned his Ph.D. in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language from The University of Texas at Austin in 1989. Throughout his career, he has held various academic positions, including Professor and Chair of the Department of English Language Teaching and Learning at BYU-Hawaii. Anderson has been a Fulbright Research/Teaching Fellow twice, served on multiple boards such as TESOL and TIRF, and has received numerous awards, including the TESOL International Association's 50 of 50 recognition for his significant contributions. His research focuses on reading comprehension and metacognitive strategies, leading to numerous publications, including several books and peer-reviewed articles. Anderson is also a frequent presenter at international conferences, emphasizing professional development and effective teaching practices in TESOL.
